Modern Marvel: Dallas Cowboys Stadium

In one word, amazing. The new Dallas Cowboy's stadium is an architectural and structural innovation the likes of which have never been seen in NFL stadiums. This is Texas Stadium². The enormous structure seats approximately 80,000 but can be expandable to up to 100,000 for major events like Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011. It maintains the infamous hole in the roof but it also has two retractable 63,000-square foot panels, and when opened the entire playing field can be seen through the opening directly above. It will house a center-hung video board, 50 feet tall and 60 yards wide, weighing 600 tons that will hang 110-feet above the field from the distinct arches that run the entire length of the stadium. The stadium will be home to Super Bowl XLV, the 2009-2010 Big 12 Championship Game, the 2010 Cotton Bowl, the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, the 2014 NCAA Men's Final Four, and of course the Dallas Cowboys.
